Monster forks

ConsPerhaps heavy?
ProsWell made, genius clearance. Smooth ride
Well pleased with these, I’m able to run 35mm tyres with standard caliper brakes. I don’t think there are any other carbon forks which offer such generous clearance. When using caliper brakes. Coupled with the larger volume tyres, they have turned my aluminium commuter into a relatively capable gravel bike. Excellent service (as standard) from SJS

ConsSlightly heavier.
ProsGood price.
Replacement for a damaged fork on my Cannondale Synapse.Very similar dimensions to the original.
Looks well made ,slightly beefier and heavier than the Cannondale. The bike is used for everyday use so ideal.

Good value, good quality. My only gripe is that clearance is a bit tight with mudguards. I struggled to get clearance with 32c tyres and had to cut a section out of the top of the mudguard to clear the fork crown so as to raise the 'guard sufficiently. But still happy with my purchase!
Excellent fork, but with limitations

A great fork as an upgrade from a steel. QR and 1 1/8 forks are rare and and at this price rarer still. However, the clearance for wider touring or gravel tyres is tight. My Schwalbe Marathon in 700x38 mounted on Hunt MasonX have 3mm of clearance at the crown. I have had to remove the enduro mudguard so the wheel can freely rotate - Thats my only gripe. Overall pleased with the fork and the way it rides.

Consnot superlight
Prosdifficult to find anywhere else. well built
1 1/8 steerer disc forks capable of taking gravel tyres are very hard to source. these are a good value for money option. the aluminium steerer and robust build mean that they are not the lightest about, however there very few alternatives. well done to sjs for stocking them. sjs are invaluable for parts that other online shops can't be bothered to stock
Good value and strong

ConsWeight
ProsValue. Construction.
Finding an after market carbon fork with a straight steerer and fittings for a disc brake and mudguard eyes is not easy. Some are well over £250 when you find them. This fork is very good value, well made and strong. It weighs a bit more but is ideal for a gravel bike set up. Very pleased with it.

Specialized sirrus steel fork
It will lower the front of the bike by 5mm and will drastically worsen toe over lap with the front wheel, I would not advise it. SK 15/04/24

Can I use this with a 650 Bx 47 mm wide tyre . Thank you . F
By
19 Aug 2020
Hello will this work with 650B x 47 MM
Thanks Finian
47mm will physically fit, but with various tyres / rims, pressures, debris/mud etc. we would not recommend this, you have about 2/3mm clearance either side!

I have a older v brake Montague Fit that I want to upgrade to disc brakes.
By
03 Aug 2020
I contacted Montague and this is what they said:
‘You would need a new front fork with a disc brake mount, and anything made for 700c with a 1 1/8" threadless steerer tube would work.’.
Would this fork do the job? What about the crown race, is there a specific one I need for this fork?
Thanks
A
Yup, that's the thing, the seat is a standard dimension, so you need a crown race that matches your other HEADSET parts or a complete new headset. RT 03/0/2020
Suitable for a 2010 Scott Sub10?
By
19 Jul 2020
Hello I've a flat barred commuter that I'd like to put a new fork on to allow for fitting a front rack for some light touring - this appears to be compatible (1.1/8 steerer and disc mounts) but I wanted to know if I need to worry about anything else. The wheel doesn't have a q/r axle - would that be an issue and I take it the combined weight limit is my weight plus only the front load?
Depending on the axle to crown, offset/rake then this could be suitable.
The wheel will need to be 9mm qr / allen key axle to work.
100kg includes rider weight and all luggage.

2015 model Croix de Fer compatible?
By
26 May 2020
Will this fit a 2015 model Croix de Fer? Spec says fork offset is 45 mm, trail 66 mm. Thanks.
yup, should be fine, this measures 390mm Axle to Crown, you could check your existing measurement, something close will be OK (+/-10) RT
Can you tell me the length off the steerer tube please

Can these be used with calliper brakes?
By
29 Apr 2020
Do these need to be used with disc brakes or can standard calliper brakes be used? I see there's a small hole at the top of the fork where they might be able to be fitted?
Hi, the hole is 6mm so in theory yes. But the back is not recessed for modern brake pivot nuts and you would have to space the caliper away from the fork to make it clear the crown. The hole is there for mounting lights etc. Thanks
Can I use this fork for a replacment for a Caadax Ultegra

Carbon blades, 1-1/8"

Full spec of the bike as follows https://www.evanscycles.com/cannondale-caadx-ultegra-disc-2016-cyclocross-bike-EV239421

Thanks for your help
Hi there,

These should work fine with your bike, however as we do not have any experience with it we cannot say for certain I'm afraid.

Thanks.
Can I use this with an alloy Cannondale synapse
By
16 Oct 2019
The existing forks need replacing so need an alternative and there isn't a spare fork available.
Hi
Thank you for your enquiry. As long as your bike as 1 1/8 inch ahead compatible then this fork should fit however we cannot advise on how it will ride as we have never fitted one to a Cannondale before.

Would this be suitable for a Bianchi Volpe 2017?
By
30 Aug 2019
I am looking for a replacement for the stock steel fork. Steerer diameter is the same, and I would need tyre clearance for 25cc or 28cc
We aren't familiar with this bike but if the diameters match then these should be suitable. These forks have a clearance of up to 40mm tires.
Will this work with a 1 - 1/8 straight steerer and semi - integrated headset?

I am looking to upgrade an old road adventure fork (hugely heavy chromoly / alloy). Thank you in advance for any help
Hi,

the diameters match so it should be ok.

Thanks.
Can I use this with a 2019 genesid croix de fer frame?
By
20 Jun 2019
Want something lighter than the stock Steel fork but concerned about drastically changing the handling and geometry of the bike if new fork.
This would not be suitable for a CDF, we would recommend speaking to Genesis and getting the exact fork spec first.

Thanks - 21/06/19
is the fork set to work with a 160mm disc rotor and a postmount caliper as standard?
