Details

Suitable for use on Brompton Bikes. Can be used in place of the Brompton Hinge Clamp Plate (Brompton Part # 9040049 / QHCPL).

CNC Produced from 6061 aluminium. Set consists of 2 x hinge clamp plates and 2 x springs.

Glad I bought it but.....

ConsOn an oldish frame (2007), needed some filing to actually hold frame rigidly.

ProsAlways the right way round, light, springs just make life easiet

Love the fact it doesn't spin, love the springs, took me a while to work out why the bike felt different...and not in a good way. On a late 2007 bike the crossbar clamp didn't do the business. Slight play even when fully tightened (detectable by tweaking handlebars and saddle in opposite direction and noticeable when riding). Play gone when original put back. Bit of filing on the overlappy side and all now good. Guess in some way the 2007 frame is subtley different.

ProsMore elegant Brompton fold. Easy to install.

The asymmetrical shape of these clamp plates means you can fold your Brompton without the spinning plates you get with the originals. This makes putting the frame back together a little easier. Not at all essential, but a nice addition.
Works best with replacement clamp bolts which limit the extent to which the plates can move out, allowing the long side of the plate to stay engaged with the frame.
Extremely easy to install.
