I bought this to replace the grip shift on my daughter's Frog which she was struggling to turn. Easy install and set up, and works incredibly well. She finds it so much easier to shift now and keeps asking if we can go for long rides instead of moaning whenever we go out. Amazing price for what you get. Excellent advice and service from SJS as always...

Work with Vintage Shimano 600 EX?

I have got myself a new project, which is an early 80s Dawes Galaxy with vintage 600 EX rear derailleur. I believe the exact model is DC-230 introduced in 1978. The bike has a 5 speed freewheel. Do you know if this 5 speed shifter will index properly on that? If not, any bar-mounted friction shifters you could recommend? Thanks

This shifter should work with your bike, at this time there are very few options in 5 speed. SK 19/01/24

Can I use this with Shimano SIS Five-speed?

I'm looking to replace a five-speed Shimano SIS thumb shifter as the ratchet won't hold onto first gear, I believe due to wear, so was wondering if this product would be a suitable replacement.

Yes but a better quality item would be the Sunrace M90 8 Speed Thumbshifter - Right Hand (SJS Cycles part number : 37383) which does 7 or 8 RT

What rear derailleur works with this?

I doubt that this will work with my 42-year old Campy SR rear derailleur so what would be a good rear derailleur to make this work?
