ProsSimple and smooth in work and built, this is what shifter should be.

Much much better than the original big plastic junk, it should work for decades.

ProsSolid Very Satisfying shifting action looks Great

Excellent Shifter.An essential bit of kit for the Sturmey Archer 8 speed x-rf8.
It shifts crisply and superbly.
Each shift is rewarded with a very satisfying click.
It looks Great too.
The standard twist grip is also great.
But if you prefer a different look the thumb shifter
is definately an option well worth considering.
You should consider carefully the placement in relation to the brake levers to ensure that the shift lever can reach every position without coming into contact with the brake lever.

ConsSticks up quite a lot.

ProsBetter looking than than the grip shift

I've used this to replace the grip shift that comes with the 8 speed hub -XRF8. It looks much nicer on my Brompton with the proviso that, when the bike is folded up, the lever may clash with the wheel. Note - My bike has non-standard handlebars so it may not be a problem with standard bars.

Can this shifter be remount to a downtube cable boss?

Unfortunately not, these have a different shaped base meaning they cannot be fitted to a set of down tube bosses.
