ConsNot available in black
ProsCost-effective and well made, simple to install, friction level is adjustable without tools
Perfect, friction only, bar end shifters. Easy to fit, easy to set up, easy to use - especially as you can trim the either mech in tiny increments because there is no indexing. Used to replace Shimano bar ends when the tiny little indexing spring broke when I swapped bars.
Neat and simple

ConsNone as yet
ProsSimple, adaptable
Used to move old tube mounted friction shifters up to my handlebars. Can be used with a range of gears as they are not indexed (I'm using them with an 8speed). Nothing complicated about installing them and used standard length cable. Seem well made and should last.

ConsGeeting them straigt on the bar is a bit fiddly.
Prosworks with any combination of gears
These were to be used on a new Time Trial bike I was putting together. As I was running Camagnolo gears with a shimano wheel and sprcokets, the friction control was ideal for shifting gears.

They come without cables, so be aware that you will need an extra long rear cable. They fitted well although a bit fiddly to get lined up. Worked well with a smooth change and given time and experience probably as good as indexing. At half the price of Campag good value.

Cable routing

Do these levers route the cables outside the handlebar (under the tape) or inside, therefore needing cable ports in the bars?
No, these are externally routing.

Will they work with an XT 9 speed rapid rise rear mech?

These will work with nearly anything, there is no indexing.

Is it possible to buy only bar end pods, without the levers?
31 Mar 2019
These shifters are basically Dia Compe friction downtube shift levers mounted on bar end pods. I already have the same DT shifters which I’d like to mount on my handlebars, and therefore I need only handlebar pods. Can you sell these separately or is this the only way to buy them?
Unfortunately these are not available separately.

Can I use this with a 11 speed shimano RD-M 8000 SGS shadow rear deraileur?
As these shifters are not indexed you can use them with anything! Just set the limits as normal and each gear is selected by you adjusting the shifter lever.

Can these levers be used with Shimano 105 3x11?
22 Nov 2017

Yes you should be able to do this without a problem.

Can These Levers Be Used With The Jtek Bar End Adapters

at the moment I am using 10 speed Dura Ace bar ends but these are very stiff,

I'm assuming you mean the thumb shifter brackets in which case yes, these Dia-Compe levers can be used with them.

How Many Sprockets (Back And Front) Will These Handle? T

As these run a friction set up, there is no indexing for a specific number of gears so you could use them with any number of gears up to 3x10 if you wanted.
