ConsRequires a few extras to complete installation.
ProsNeat solution for flat to drop bar conversion for bikes with hub gears.
Fitted this to a drop bar conversion with a nexus hub.
Came with a gear inner cable only. I had to buy a new, longer, outer that would reach after running it around under the bar tape to make it a bit neater. The original thumb shifters on the flat bars incorporated a cable adjuster which the jtek shifter doesn’t have so you need to buy an in-line adjuster or make up something at either end of the outer cable to allow fine tuning of the cable length. This is necessary for correct indexing of the hub.
The amount of lever movement is about 180 degrees to index all gears, ie lever travel is from pointing straight up to straight down. Obviously this is necessary to pull the required amount of cable.
Good option for Nexus 8 with drop handlebars

Good alternative to the stock Shimano shifters when using drops, especially if you are already used to bar-end derailleur shifters
I thought the extent of the lever deplacement might be a problem (about twice as much movement as compared to a bar-end derailleur shifter), in practice it is OK.
Works very well.

Works well and accurately on a Shimano Alfine 8 Hub. Simple to install. Cable it came with was only just long enough so on some bikes it might not be. Tad pricey but a good solution for drop bars.
Great!

ProsFunction, looks, versatility
Works great, looks fine.
Turns out lever fits perfectly on old downtube shifter bracket/bolt.
Does what it says on the box.

Is this compatible with the alfine SG-S500 hub?
By

I’ve read about these hubs using a reversed cable pull? Is this true? Would this still work but be backwards if so?
This should still work, however, the shifting action would likely be reversed- we do not have this hub in stock to confirm this function, however.

How do I use the Adjustment?
By
05 Jul 2019
On the side of the shifter it says adjustment plus or minus. Do you know how to use this. If I use an Allen Key then it just loosens the whole unit until it falls apart. I assume it is to make fine adjustments to the gears?
The "adjustment" is changing gear, there is no adjustment to the shifter itself.

Is this the correct picture? It looks exactly like the Microshift shifter?
By

Yes this is correct, if you look in the Supersize photo, you can see the JTEK branding.

is it indexed

Hi there,
is it indexed ?
what's the difference between this one and the microshift one ?
thank you for your answer.
Yes this is indexed. The main difference is that this is cheaper!

Hi do these work as thumb shifters using Paul's thumbies. Thanks
By

Yes, on the Microshift version, but you need to remove a very very slight amount of material from the edge of the thumbie to stop the Jtek shifter scuffing it.
