The twist shifter works with two shift cables. When the twist shifter is rotated forward (direction gear #14), then the rear shift cable 14 is pulled.
When the twist shifter is rotated backward (direction gear #1), then the front shifter cable 1 is pulled. The indexing of the shifting lies not in the twist shifter as with common designs, but inside the hub. There is no wear on the indexing system nor need to adjust it.

Does Shifter Design Come In Right Handed

Does this style of shifter with the ribbed grip (not the wave design) come in a right hand shift version? I can't find it on this site.

Hi,
This older design has been discontinued, Rohloff made a rolling change to the wave design as it offers more grip in wet conditions. We no longer have stock of the shifters but we do have stock of the replacement rubbers which are inter changeable with the wave design, the SJSC part number for the rubbers is 27181.
