Details
This is the new version of the CNC machined aluminium Chain Tensioner for 2 Speed Brompton's. Brompfication have completely re-designed the chain tensioner to get a cleaner and more elegant look then the original plastic tensioner. The main difference from the old design is that the tensioner arm now rotates around a pivot bolt mounted directly on the rear hub axle. This makes it possible to reduce the bulky base of the tensioner and make it follow the lines of the tensioner arm.

More than 2 hours of CNC machining is going into making each of these chain tensioners. The tensioner is machined from 6061-T6 aluminium, one of the highest grades of aluminium alloy you can get. By using 6061-T6 aluiminium, it has been possible to design a light weight and elegant chain tensioner, without compromising on strength and stiffness. With a weight of only 124 grams including the spring and pivot bolt, just 7 grams more than the plastic version, it is one of the lightest aluminium chain tensioner for Brompton on the market. The tensioner comes with a stainless steel spring that replaced the original steel spring, and a pivot bolt in titanium.

The tensioner is black anodized to give it a wear resistant and corrosion resistant surface. The tensioner consists of 1 chain tensioner arm, 1 tensioner base, 2 jockey pivot bolts, 1 pivot bolt and 1 spring.

Hi, no the toggle chain for the hub gear will not pass through the fitting bolt so you will not be able to operate the gears. Thanks

Interested, but how would the tensioner wheel fit on it?

I use a Nov Design tensioner now. Would I need a shorter screw to attach the wheel onto the Brompfication?

Thank you.
The idler wheels simply bolt on, nothing fancy! Should not require a shorter screw.
