These bars are 550mm wide and have a 5 degree bend. The laser etched marks make it easy to cut them down to 510mm.
The short centre swell allows the brake levers to be positioned sufficiently far inboard, to enable bar ends to be used - even at this width! This produces a very aerodynamic position. Unlike the “tops” of
the drops, which use bar tape, straight bars can have very comfortable anatomical handlebar grips (such as the Ergon GP1L or GP5-L). This position offers a great view of the road and surrounding scenery, whilst
also offering instant and easy gear changing and/or very effective braking. We use this position for as much as 75% of our riding.
The Thorn Narrow Bar is highly recommended for sporty use.
Conforms to EN 15194 EPAC (25km/h e-bike)

Love these bars as MkII and these Mk IIIs look just as good

ProsLight, great finish.
I’ve used the MkII version if these bars for a while. They are excellent if you are looking for some room on your bars for lights etc and still want a narrow flat bar setup a la fixie world. The Mk IIIs differ in that they are gloss black finish but otherwise seem the same. Make a great match with the Thorn carbon 25.4mm stem, which sadly looks like it’s on its way out. I’ve cut mine down to 460mm with ispec ii gear/brake levers, which is about as narrow as you can go without too much cable and hose grief.

Suitable for a Cross Country mtb?
By

Hi there.

These are the perfect dimensions for my vintage fully rigid mtb that I use for cross country riding.

Would these be OK for this type of riding?

Thanks
Hi
Thank you for your enquiry, there's no reason that these wouldn't be suitable for cross country MTB riding, they should be fine.
Kind Regards. JP 08/02/23

Length of central bulge

How long is the central bulge? I need to ensure that I have 2 x 22 cm left for grips etc.
Hi, the width of the clamping zone is 50mm. Depending on the grip there is room to fit 220mm grips on.

Can I use this to replace the M bar on my Brompton?
By

Hi there,

In theory yes these would fit. However, the M stem is shorter than the S type, and therefore the front end would be very low, and the S type has more reach so it would feel quite short. Lastly, the cable lengths would need to be custom cut to suit this position.

Thanks.
