ConsSmaller bearing bushes needed to use original shaft washers.
ProsValue, material and fitment ok.
Fitted to an original Raliegh Mustang MTB. Original hub shaft was 9.5mm diameter, but with 2 flats to fit fork slots at 9mm. So shaft fitted to wheel ok, had to fit with original washers due to bearing bushes being smaller, all assembled ok.

ProsLook reasonably well made.
When attempting to thread the new cones from this axle onto the old, existing axle an issue was found - they were way to loose.

When measured with a micrometer these axles come out at about 9.5mm, not 9mm as per the old, original axle.

Also, they do not fit within standard QR suspension fork dropouts.
If you need 9.5, I'm sure they would be fine.

Does the outside diameter of the cones included in this set measure 17mm?

My cones need replacing. The external diameter at the smallest end of the "cone part" (i.e. the curved bit where the ballbearings make contact) is 10.5mm.
Could you make the same measurement on these cones for me please. If they are 10.5mm or less I'll buy a couple of them! Thanks

im building up my front 20" wheel with a hope pro4, fitted with a front 9mm conversion kit, for the Bullitt cargo bike, runs a 9mm x 100mm front Axle

will this axle fit my hope pro4 hub with a front 9mm conversion kit?

NO- this is not what you are looking for- as this is designed for hubs that use cup and cone bearings. You would need a Hope Pro 4 Bolt in Axle kit however this is only available in 10mm

Hi there,
This item appears to be a straight replacement for the axle in (Shimano?) hub marked "Exage HB-RM50". Are you able to confirm?

Also, are you able to point me at a better quality equivalent to the D20? I couldn't find another axle of this type on your web site.

Unfortunately we cannot confirm that fits as we do not have an Exage hub to test it on and Shimano no longer make the axle.

Appears straight swap for oem part on Dawes tandem, but concerned (in view of low price) that quality may be inferior.

Is there a better brand that would be preferable?

Suggesting a suitable product is completely dependant on the hub your currently have, this may be suitable, the quality will be fair, you can certainly buy lower and higher quality axles.
