The Rohbox is a shiftbox for Rohloff 14-speed internal gear hub. It replaces the original shiftbox allowing shifting with shifters other than the original Rohloff Twister i.e. on a dropbar the Rohbox can be operated by modified brake shift levers, or on a straight handlebar it can be operated by modified trigger shifters or even brake levers.

This new version now shifts 2 gear positions per lever movement.

Excellent alternative to the Rohloff twist shifter - with the right installation.

ProsEasy and precise shifting at your fingertips
My bike uses SRAM brifters so I modified them as per Gebla instructions then installed the Rohbox with my new Rohloff hub. The result was disappointing because the shift was unusably stiff and imprecise. A new Rohloff requires a 1,000 Km run-in period so with this in mind I removed the Rohbox and used the standard Rohloff twist shifter on a short extension mounted on the handlebars. Gear shifting using the Rohloff shifter was precise and got less stiff as the hub wore in allowing me to run up 1,000 Km.

After the 1,000 Km run-in, I reinstalled the Rohbox and the result was easy and precise shifting - hurrah! Setup is left lever to shift down to lower gears and the right lever to shift to higher gears. It is important to follow Gebla instructions and use standard Shimano or SRAM road inner and outer shift cables, not the Rohloff supplied outer. The Rohbox is well made and spares are available so I am confident that the Rohbox will be as reliable as the Rohloff.

How much cable pull is required?
By

Do you know how many mm of cable pull is required to actuate a shift? Considering using this with dropper post remotes which pull 6mm of cable
You will need a greater cable pull to actuate the units, it is designed to work with specific modified shifters, they also do a pair of shifters similar to the dropper post remove, one mounted either side of the bars.

Rohbox can it use brake levers.

I was wondering if I would be able to use old Mountain bike brake levers as my left and right shifters, is it possible to use outer and inner cable as my shift cables.
You can, we have successfully done this with SJS part: 26594

Shifting

This new Mk2 version can shift two gears per lever action. I don't wish to appear stupid but can it still shift only one gear per leaver action? The gaps between each Rohloff gear are large enough, but shifting two would be a killer - either far too hard or frantically easy to pedal! Regards, Andrew.
Yes, you can shift 1 or 2.

What levers can I use Gebler Rohbox with on drop bars

So you sell the SRAM 22 levers that I think are recommended for Rohbox? Does Rohbox come with cables?
Hi there,

Only Campagnolo and Sram 11spd shifters are 100% compatible with the Rohloff due to having to disable the ratcheting system. We only sell the right-hand lever of the Sram Rival 22. The Rohbox does not come with cables.

Thanks.
