Quick Release Skewer for the Shimano Deore XT WH-M788 8/9/10 speed rear wheel.

135mm OLN fitting / 173mm overall length, QR pivot to end of skewer's pin.

Shimano state that this part is also an "A" match with these rear wheels & hubs. This means that the parts are the same in materials, appearance, finish & size etc.

Clamps well and looks the part

ProsClamps well, looks good

Used as a replacement for a old metal qr scewer, it gives the same clamping force and also looks good. Easy to use and sits in a good position away from other components. Used on a hybrid bicycle.

ConsDeore FH-T610 Quick Release Skewer is even cheaper

ProsSmooth action Shimano skewer.

Good typical Shimano skewer. Not sure how they measure the length as it seems identical to Deore FH-T610 Quick Release Skewer -which says 168mm. It also weighs exactly the same so whist this skewer is good value, the Deore FH-T610 skewer is a bargain at sale price of £,2.99

I recommend this product

I wanted a longer skewer for my touring bike which takes 135 mm. For me, there is only one choice, Shimano QR skewers, whilst not the flashiest or lightweight they have always proved reliable, efficient and long lasting. I also quite like the understated looks - un-bling?? The XT skewer on my old (and I mean old) Orange P7 has given years of faultless performance. I can heartily recommend this skewer.

Shimano's internal cam QR's are usually great. They are normally robust and provide a much greater clamping force the the external cam ones that are so common now. However, in this case the QR spindle quickly became threaded and unusable. I would say that this is a rare occurence though and have had good fortune with these in the past. (My rating would be 5 stars based on past experiecne but this time - not so good)
