Conswhy the genuine nuts are so breakable?
I'm trying this for lefthand instead of strippable HMN128 or HMN388. Seems tougher than standard ones.

Has the shape been updated?
By

I bought one the other day, but it came in a different shape.
I think the functionality is the same, but the peepholes have been reduced to two.
Shouldn't you update the photo to the latest one?
Hi, Yes the functionality is the same.
All of our latest stock delivery is the 4 hole version.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Is this a more modern replacement?

I am trying to get to the bottom of how the RH nuts assemble on my Raleigh Caprice Ladies 3 speed bike having mt father in law rebuild the hub he put a much longer indicator nut on that he had laying around. The one that came with the bike is short and has no flats on which to put a spanner, just a knurled section to tighten it by hand. The longer one dad used seemed to long to allow the gears to engage properly and the gear cable is very very tight.
Have you seen this type of nut before and what other nuts / washers should go onto the axle to allow you to tighten the wheel to the frame?
This will be specific to the bike in question, if you have replaced the original nut with a longer one, its likely the cable tension / shifting will be incorrect.

Can I use this with a HSJ842?

Yes, its more important to get the correct nut for the hub / axle.
