Will not fit Brompton without adjustment!?

I recommend this product
ConsDIY on the hub for the Brompton fit.
Prosalmost no friction and lighter
I bought this as a better front hub for the Brompton and made the wheel with an old rim (pre 2013) and radiall spokes.
This turns out to be about 65gm lighter than the stock wheel and the bearings are far better with little frictoin.
A note on fitting before construction I filed two very small flats on the spindle either side (like the SA flatted axle). This brings the spindle width within a firm push on the forks ( the Brompton has a 7.5 mm ish spindle and these are just under 9mm).I also had to expand slightly the two wheel retaining washer thingies with a round file.
Far smoother running on this hub and no problems with the building.
I actually used hex axle 19064 instead of the QR skewer.

Spokes length using double wall rims/angle drilled
By
15 Aug 2020
Hi, what spokes length do I need if I built this on a Brompton double wall rim with angle drilling. Also considering of building my rear wheel too...since it’s an old 3 speed SA AW circa 1999, again what spokes length do I need to get to build this again on Brompton double wall with angle drilling.
Old rim was probably a single wall? Haven’t opened it yet since it was fitted with Tannus tyres since l bought it which l intend to change to normal air tyres.
Hi there,

Unfortunately we do not know as we have never built one! (This will not fit a Brompton)
Again, we do not have the calculations for the older hubs.

Adjustment to What?
By
08 Jul 2019
Hi,
"9mm diameter axle (Will not fit Brompton without adjustment)" does this mean adjustment to the hub or dropouts? Has it been done and how? It would be not destine for a Bromptom but a MCL Micro.
Adjustment to the fork end, but no need, you can use Jtek for Brompton Extra Light Front Hub - Silver (part # 37281) if you have 8mm dropouts, like a Brompton
Can you specify hub dimensions for a wheel build?

Would like to know center-flange distance and flange spoke circle diameter in order to calculate spoke length.

Thanks much.
flange spoke diameter (d) is 30mm
center-flange distance (W) is 21.7mm
hope that helps with wheelbuild

Unfortunately the cheapest 28H 100mm hub we have is SJS Cycles part number : 43437H28 at £49.99.

Hub length 45 mm, hub flange dia is 44 mm, Axle dia is 9 mm and the axle length is 120 mm. Hub shell dia is 15 mm. Will it match with the fitted in the cycle ?
Hello,

The measurements of this hub are approximately the same so it should fit without an issue.

Thanks.
