Well Made, Not Ideal Forevery Light

I recommend this product
ConsLow mounting height
ProsQuality
Usual B&M quality. My Cyo sits lower than on the standard bracket resulting in additional foreground shadow from the mudguard and wheel.

Since fitting I've found a table in a B&M catalogue indicating it is intended for Fly models.
Does The Job

I recommend this product
Excellent as usual for B&M products. Much better than the home-made brackets I'd improvised that kept failing due to metal fatigue from road vibrations. Took a bit of fiddling to get it sited appropriately.

Consnone
ProsSolidly made,reliable,vibration free
This is an excellent bracket, lasts for years and supports all dynamo lights, no matter how heavy, without any vibration.

Other types of bracket will not support lights like the BUSCH AND MULLER Lumotec Oval series or the Schmidt Edelux without the light looking like it is on the end of a spring and the bracket failing very quickly, sometimes within days.

Other suppliers (Spa Cycles for instance) have this bracket on their websites but send you something else altogether so beware.

What else is needed to install this?

Hi - I recently purchased this item but it only came with the bolt to secure the light to the bracket. How would you recommend attaching this to the fork for optimal fit? I think I have seen a nylon washer used in a picture online to protect the paintwork I imagine. Thanks.
You simply need a bolt into/through the fork crown with some washers. You can use nylon washers to protect the paint work is desired.

Thanks
Does this work with cemtre-pull brakes?

Specifically the Dia-Compe GC700. It uses a straddle wire like cantilevers but also uses the fork crown hole for mounting.
This should work with that brake, but we have not tested this.

Thanks
Suitable For A Brompton?
By
11 Nov 2016
I am about to fit an AXA Switch 50 front dynamo light to my touring Brompton. I am looking for a well made and solid front bracket. Will this bracket work with the Brompton and still allow the front T-Bag to fit on the luggage block? Do you have any other suggestions for good touring quality Brompton front light brackets?
Hi,

This bracket is not suitable for use on a Brompton I'm afraid as it is designed for use with cantilever brakes so will interfere with the Brompton caliper brakes. The bracket needs to be a Brompton specific one, with one of these fitting it will allow you to still fit a T-Bag to your bike without any issues.

Thanks.
Cantilever Brakes But Bolt On Rear Of Fork Crown?
By
16 Oct 2016
I have read this bracket could be used with any cantilever brakes? But my tourer (Dawes frame) have the bolt (for mudguard and reflectant) at the back, not the front of the fork crown. I am not sure this would fit, do you know?
Hi,

This bracket would not be suitable for fitting to the rear of the fork crown I'm afraid as it is not long enough to clear the crown. All of the fork crown mounted brackets are designed to fit at the front of the crown so we don't have any other we can recommend unfortunately.

Thanks.
Can This Be Fitted With An Uphanger?
By
28 May 2016
Looking to move to dynamo lighting by the coming winter. This looks just the thing but I'm not sure if it will work with my canti brake uphanger.
Hi,

This should work fine with your Canti brake as this sits out of the way of the straddle wire.

Thanks.
Does This Solve A Clash Of The Light Binding In Traditional Cantilever
By
24 Jan 2016
I have a traditional cantilever on my tourer and the bracket that came as standard with IQ2 front light catches and binds in cable. Tried home fix but not satisfactory so I hope this is designed for the job. Also the light is fixed to the standard bracket with vandal proof type star nuts, do you know their size and make to that I can get a tool specific to the nuts?
Hi,

This bracket should solve the issues you have been having. The bolts used have a Torx head fitting, the size is T20, we sell the tools individually and they are SJSC part number 19866.

Thanks.
