Please note that although this bracket is compatible with Brompton's certain lights (including the Brompton/Cateye Volt 300 light) are slightly too large/long which means that they cannot be used if there is a luggage block installed.

Useful bracket but not quite universal

I recommend this product
ConsMay not fit older Cateye lights
ProsEasy to fit and works well
Excellent alternative when a front basket obscures the more normal mounting positions, though I did have to bend it so the light pointed horizontally rather than up in the air. Sadly Cateye's irritating tweaks to the mount over the years mean that while it looks the same, the various older halogen lights I have won't fit (there's a bulge on the lamp that stops them sliding together). Do check the lights you plan to use are listed as compatible.
Good alternative front light mount

I recommend this product
ConsIt is not stainless steel
ProsSolid construction, adjustable, fit for purpose.
I often cycle my hybrid with a front bar bag, my handlebars have a slight rise in them but leave no real room for the front light, so my standard Cateye light mount was actually on the left grip, out of the way but in the way and I have just put up with it. I was going to try a helmet mount but then saw this, it is perfect. It fits nice and solidly, no bounce and has not loosened in 500 miles. I fitted it to the fork with a 5 x 20mm stainless washer that I ground two notches into with a Dremmel to ensure it remained in place. My light easily removes for charging. It is bright plated steel so I hope it doesn't suffer the effects of road weather.
Superb Bracket.

ConsNone.
ProsVery well made.
As is the case with other people who use a handlebar mounted bag I've found this bracket to be the ideal answer for headlight mounting. Attached to the fork crown the position is ideal where it shouldn't interfere with any cables. This bracket will accept a wide range of Cateye headlights.

ConsNot sure it would fit all bikes.
ProsWell made, fair price and easy to fit.
Neatly solved the problem of mounting my cat-eye front light so I can use a bar bag. Previously the bar mounted light was obstructed by the bag so the beam was spoiled. Bracket is well made and was easy to fit and adjust for beam projection. Fitted to a Genesis Day one with disc brakes so the light bracket only shares the bolt with the mudguard. I would be reluctant to try it with normal caliper (rim) brakes.

Compatibility
By

Hello. The Cateye website shows the fork bracket [5342440] as compatible with the Ampp 800. I have an Ampp 800, purchased from SJS, but the manufacturer product code (HL-EL088RC) is not in the list of compatible lights shown on your website. Can you confirm one way or another? If it does fit, would I require a longer bolt to fit it to my Mercury Mk3? Thank you.
Thank you for your enquiry, yes it will fit that light all ok

Will this be compatible with a volt 1700?

Does It come with a bolt to attach to the fork? Is this for any fork or Brompton only?
No Bolt included, in theory, it would work with any fork so long as an appropriate sized bolt and washer were used to secure it.

Does it fit 2019 Brompton?
By
20 Feb 2021
Have tried a version of this and thickness of meant it was to big for original spacer and touched the brake calliper. Is this a thin gauge version?
Without knowing which one you tried we could not say if this is different; we have the best success with the Brompton flat plates; although only sold with a light.

Thanks
Hi, can I use this with CatEye Volt400 (Brompton light)? Thanks

WIll this fit a Cateye AMPP 800 on a Brompton?
By

I have a luggage block fitted, but I read that the AMPP is more compact that the Volt 800, so wondered if this would fit.
This will not be suitable with Brompton caliper brakes.
Thanks

Will This Bracket Attach To The Front Of A Surly Nice 2.0 Cro Mo Front Rack
By
20 Mar 2017
Asked this question earlier but mistyped email address.
Hi,

You would need to supply and additional bolt to do so but we can't see any reason as to why you could not fit this to the front of your Surly rack.

Thanks.
Fork?
By

Hi,
Is this a crown mount for that light, i.e. does it mount at the *top* of the forks?
Hi,

This is indeed a fork crown fitting bracket for these lights.

Thanks.
