Connect Ld1100 To Pannier Directly

Hi, I see that my LD1100 has 20mm vertical studs which match up with the holes on my Axiom pannier. Can this mounting screw be used to screw directly into the studs on the back of the light, therefore bypassing the need to use a QR bracket?
