Buy the Edelux II instead

ConsPoorly thought out design.
ProsNeat appearance
I bought one of these for my touring bike, purely because it was cheaper than the Edelux II. This is not a mistake I'll be making again. The build quality is superficially pretty good, and the beam pattern seems ok, if a little narrow, but the switch has not worked since the day I fitted it, and my light is always on regardless. When compared to the Edelux II lights I have on a couple of other bikes, there's no comparison the Edelux II is far superior, with better build quality and a proper switch. Spend the extra and go for an Edelux instead.
excellent light, fitting could be a bit better

I recommend this product
Consfiddly to adjust the angle
Prosbright, neat, well made
Comparable to a car light in brightness, I am now given more space by traffic at night than in the day as they don't seem to know what's coming. Excellent in all ways except the fitting which makes the angle hard to adjust precisely as when loosening it, it easily looses its position before you can make the very fractional change needed to not blind motorists but not focus too close, especially as it needs a road test each time for the beam to be bright.
Brilliant light

I recommend this product
ConsA little fiddly
ProsStylish, light, powerful
With winter coming and a number of Audax in the calendar I bought this light for my winter bike. It is excellent - relatively easy to set up (note the mounting bolt it comes with is a bit short for some forks) and the light it emits is nothing short of astounding - it is the most powerful front light I've used, including battery driven units and the light spread is perfect for riding at reasonable speed. I paired this with a B M Secula for front and back coverage which has been a great combo. The unit looks really slick too. I highly recommend it.

Can IQ-X LED lamp be bench tested with 6v 50Hz AC from Mains powered transformer?
By
14 Mar 2020
The AC from a dynamo varies from 18Hz to over 100Hz (so i see from google) so theoretically, yes, however we recommend you test it with a dynamo.

Indicator of rear light illumination and power balance
By
06 Feb 2019
Does this light have an indicator to show the rear light is illuminated, as the IQ2 Luxos does? (want to replace this plastic shell version)

As this light generates higher lux, does this mean less power is left for rear B&M Toplight?
The blue glowing ring at the back of the light is brighter when the light is in daytime mode, and dimmer when under a normal beam. There is no indicator telling that rear light is on like on IQ2 Luxos.
First light to reach 100lux output, it does not compromise output of a rear light.

many thanks

B&M IQX with Shimano Deore XT hubs
By

How would those 2 work together ?
Hi there,

This light comes with exposed wires for connection so it would connect easily. You need to push the exposed part of the wire through the circular parts on the grey part of the connector and bend them up on themselves making sure that the wires do not touch and then push this back on to the other part of the connector. All of this can be found in the instructions for the hub.

Thanks.

B&M IQ-X with Brompton
By
03 Sep 2018
I see you have responded to a previous question on using the IQ-X with a Brompton which was in the positive but using the existing bracket. My question is whether: (i) It will affect the fold and (ii) whether it will get in the way of a bag when fitted to the block.

Is the IQ-XS smaller in size and would that be more suitable?

Thank you
John
Using this should not affect the fold or the bag on the front block.

Thanks
Front light cable cover

Hi, I have lost the connector cover that fits to the front light, do you sell this separately or do you know where I could find one? Thanks
Hello,

We believe that the part you need is sjs cycles part #45769.

Thanks.
Why Can'T This Be Used With A Bottle Dynamo (E.G. An Old Dynosys Lightspin)?
By
03 Jun 2017
Hi,

In theory it should actually be okay as both bottle dynamos and hub dynamos give the same 6V3W output. However it is likely that as this light draws a lot of power that Busch and Muller believe that full brightness is much more easily achieved with a hub dynamo so only recommend it for use with one.

Thanks.

Front Light Fitting
By
12 May 2016
Hi
Ive already got a Busch and M cyo plus front light and a son rear light running from a hub dynamo
Just wondering about upgrading to this front light
as far as connecting my son rear light this at the moment plugs directly into two connectors.
Would this connection be thesame on this light ? so a fairly straightforward straight swap over ?
also does it have an auto setting so it comes on in darkness and does it have daylight running LEDS ?
Thanks
Hi,

The connection to the rear light is the same, the rear light terminals are hidden in the extension bracket on this light though. It does have the senso feature that comes on automatically in the dark as well as a day light running feature.

Thanks.
Brompton Fitting
By
03 May 2016
Hi
Will the lumotec IQX fit a brompton? I already have the son dynamo set up but wanted to replace the front light i already have!

Thanks
Neil
Hi,

The B&M IQ-X can easily be fitted to a Brompton, you'll need to re-use the bracket from the old light though.

Thanks.
How Do I Connect It To A Dynamo And Does It Also Link To Rear Lamp?
By
08 Feb 2016
None of the pictures show any details of the electrical connections to this lamp? Does it have bare wires or plugs/sockets, if so which sort? How long are the wires?.
Hi,

This light connects to the dynamo with its wire which is 70mm long. The cable has bare wire ends to allow you to fit the correct fittings for whatever hub it is you have. You can connect a rear light to this front light as there is a rear light cable supplied with the light.

Thanks.
