Details
New for 2016, this is the battery version of the popular Secula seat post mounted dynamo light. This light is compact and incorporates the LineTec technology. A prism system which creates an exceptionally bright light crown powered by one high powered LED which is very distinctive due to its 'spatial' shape. This enables other traffic participants to better estimate the distance to the bicycle. The elegant transparent glass on the circumference shines bright red when in use. It also has a centrally integrated rear reflector and is supplied with 2 x AAA batteries.

LineTec - Light strip for more safety

LineTec is a light technology featuring a special lens system designed by B&M. The punctual light of one high power LED is spread up to become a wide strip of light which shines homogenously. Why is that important? In the past, as another road user approached a bicycle at night from behind all that could be seen was a single point of light emitting from the rear light. This meant that the distance to the rider could only be estimated inadequately. B&M wanted to address the need to accurately estimate this distance by providing a capacity for the human eye to register the spatial relationship to the rider, especially in the dark. Hence LineTec was created. A rear light sending out a LineTec light strip emits 'spatial light' allowing other road users to estimate the distance to the rider much better and more quickly.

Good Light But Frustration

ConsWoeful bracket and almost impossible switch.
ProsGood bright light
No relation to the previous reviewer by the way. B&M quality light but totally let down by the inadequate bracket which is no more than a zip tie. I have utilised a Cateye SP12 fixing to get the light to stay put. The on-off switch is also very difficult to operate and requires almost gorilla force to press it successfully. A bit more research and development required by B & M

ConsPoor fixing bracket
ProsBright light, integral reflector
A nice compact rear light, let down by a minimalist fixing bracket which relies on a cable tie to hold it onto the bike. You just can't get enough tension on a cable tie to hold the light securely enough. I'll probably be able to adapt it, but at this price you really shouldn't have to.

Is there a minimum diameter of seatstay required for fitting?
By

It simply uses a zip tie, so not a listed minimum, but we would suggest at least 20mm would be best.

Hi,

Unfortunately this light does not have a flashing mode, it is a constant light only.

Thanks.
