Fairly bright but standlight failed after a couple of years

ConsUnreliable
ProsSmall
This is a small and fairly bright light. There is only one LED source, the bulge at the top, the rest of it is a reflector. It is not as bright as dynamo rear lights that have more LEDs. It feels cheap and flimsy and is in no way dissasemblable or serviceable (in common with other B&M lights). Unfortunately after 1-2 years the standlight failed (an issue I had with a B&M front light as well), a rattle of the unit suggesting something had come apart inside. I replaced it with the Toplight Line plus, which is a bit better in all respects.
Bigger than I expected it to be

ProsGood value
I was hoping this would be a narrower light for my skinny Tortec Velocity rack, but in reality it's quite wide and sticks out a little. My own fault for not checking the dimensions, but I do think the pic makes it look a bit smaller than it is in reality.

Which Rear Light?
By daniel
21 Feb 2016
Hello,
I am looking for a rear dynamo light to mount to the back of my Tubus Fly pannier rack. Is it possible to run the wires from this rear light directly down to my SP front hub as my front light doesn't have an output for a rear light?
Best wishes,
Daniel

SJS Customer Service:
Hi,
I'm afraid that all dynamo rear lights need to piggy back off of a dynamo front light rather than connecting directly to the hub. The power output from the hub is too great and can damage the rear light.
Thanks.

SJS Customer Service:
Hi,
I'm afraid like most rear lights this light does not come with any of the cabling. The connecting cable we recommend is the Schmidt coaxial cable (SJSC part number 15905) but as this is set up for the Schmidt lights it will require you to remove the ring terminal and fit a new spade terminal (SJSC part number 8007) and then to cover it with some heat shrink wrap (SJSC part number 4606) making sure to select the 4.8-2.4mm option. We do offer a cheaper connecting cable as well (SJSC part number 25542) but this only has two of the terminals fitted so would require you to purchase 2 separately (SJSC part number 8007) and again purchase some heat shrink wrap (SJSC part number 4606)
Thanks.
