ProsBright, wide, standlight
A really nice rear lamp, with a good wide lit area and visibility from all around (including indicators you can see if you look back at the light while riding).

Standlight is excellent, and has a push-off switch if you want to turn it off once parked (to stop people telling you you've left your lightson!). The light switches back on again automatically, so you can't forget it.

ProsBright, very efficient, switch off stand light
Fits neatly on the bracket at the back of the carrier.
Bright light and good size reflector.
Very efficient - up to full brightness at very low speed, and only a few metres travel to get stand-light charged.
I love the switch to avoid "Oi, mate, you left your light on!".

ProsBright and light
Bought it to replace a failed light on my Brompton. I chose it on the basis of earlier reviews already posted here, and they seem to be accurate. My only complaint, and not a big one, is that the fitting instructions are very brief, in very small print and in German only. I connected the light not by spade connectors but by the alternative method of inserting the unstripped cables. This did not work on the first attempt and I wasn’t sure if I had understood the instructions correctly.

great little light and fitted the rack easily. Is very bright and like the switch function - platform staff at London Stations should leave me alone now!

Prosbright
Bright light but feels cheap. Also the connectors for the wires are very brittle and flimsy - one snapped in half just connecting the wires. I ended up buying the Schmidt rear light to replace this which is more expensive but worth the upgrade.

Seems to do the job perfectly. I imagined it wouldn't be sturdier, but in operation is fine. Fitting is easy.
It does not comeback with any cables.

ProsLight, efficient.
Used with a Shimano hub dynamo, this light is both quite bright and impressively efficient: just move the bike 3 meters and you'll already have a steady red safety light for at least a whole minute (there's a switch if you want to switch the standlight off). Light and easy to mount too (fits well on a Brompton FYI). And two LEDs rather than one make it safer, because they're unlikely to fail both at the same time.

ProsBright, wide spread of light
I bought this as an upgrade for my Toplight plus rear light. The light it puts out is very bright and illuminates a strip of light rather than just a spot. The light fires up instantly and the standlight function lasts a minute or two after the dynamo power goes off. It's flat, so not bulky, it's less weight than the toplight and the 50mm mounting is standard on most racks these days. Highly recommended

ConsFirst unit was dead on arrival
ProsGood all angels visibility
Good all round visibility, a quick glance over your shoulder lets you confirm it working. Has a good stand by time and comes on with the slights movement of the dynamo.

The botton on the back which turns the stand by off is very handy to stop other cyclist shouting at you that you have left your lights on. :)

Only gets 4/5 for Ease of use as the first unit turned up with only the near side LED working. Can't fault SJS they had a new one on it's way to me in no time at all. (5/5 for SJS). Has worked flawlessly ever since.

Works well. Very bright and unlike some other dynamo rear lights the light is spread across rather than being in one very bright point which may make it harder to miss and certainly makes it more pleasant to ride behind.

Ability to switch off is a nice touch to lessen the chances of vandalism.

I had no trouble mounting it on my bike but I have a home made mount to start with so drilling some holes was no problem. Otherwise I guess it depends on the design of your rack...many would be fine.

Very light, very visible quick to fit without need to read instructions. My first ever dynamo rear light. I'm delighted. You can even turn the standlight off. Another great feature is two small, forward facing windows at the top of the light which are illuminated when the light is working. No need to ask anyone else or to look in shop windows at your reflection.

Can I fit this light to the rear of my Brompton in the usual place?
By
07 Sep 2018
My B has no rear rack so I'm guessing that means it goes on some kind of bracket onto the plate between the jockey wheels... Do I need a particular bracket?
You will simply need SJS Cycles part number : 13674 to fit this onto the brake bolt.

Thanks
Can you recommend wires for this light please?
By

Hi there,

You will need the following:

- Schmidt Coaxial cables which are SJSC part number 15905 - These come with some connectors already fitted but you will need to change the ring terminal supplied to a spade terminal.
- The correct spade terminal you need is SJSC part 8007, you will also need some heat shrink wrap to go over the top which is SJSC part 4606.

Thanks
Which Cable And Connectors Are Required Please?

Dear SJS, I am about to purchase the Brompton Shimano dynamo wheel from you along with B&M headlamp 36561 to connect to this rear light. Please can you confirm your parts numbers for the cable and connectors I will need to order in order to complete the setup? Thank you.
Hi,

The only rear cables we currently have that are suitable are the Schmidt Coaxial cables which are SJSC part number 15905. These come with some connectors already fitted but you will need to change the ring terminal supplied to a spade terminal. The correct spade terminal you need is SJSC part 8007, you will also need some heat shrink wrap to go over the top which is SJSC part 4606.

Thanks.

Is the item come with wire set to plug in at the dynamo or do I need to separately.
Hi,

There aren't any wires supplied with this light I'm afraid so you'll need to purchase those separately.

Thanks.
Waterproofness
By
18 Jun 2014
Are the Busch and Muller rear lights waterproof?
Hi,

The lights are waterproof to an extent, they will remain water free under most rain showers. Extremely heavy rain or submersion could allow for some water to make it into the light, but this is only in extreme circumstances.

Thanks.
Fitting Without Carrier

Is it possible to fit this to seat post? Does it come with fittings that allow this?
Hi,

It only comes with the rear rack fittings I'm afraid.

Thanks.
