Details
These mudguards use the standard fitting to frames/forks with mudguard eyelets.

Please note that these are the SHORT version of these mudguards & are the same length as the SKS Chromoplastic Mudguards

Please note these mudguards are now coming pre drilled.

Bracket for rear brake bridge fitting NOT included. Available separatley, SJSC part #28520

We highly recommend using a second, vertical stay on the rear guard to reduce "bouncing".

ProsBeautiful and strong, no rattling
So obviously these are gorgeous, we know that already!

Fitting these wasn't quick but it was well worth it.

What I was pleasantly surprised to find was just how tough they are. You'd have to dent them quite hard to actually cause damage. I would say they are tougher than chromoplastic.

The rear racks on some bikes are actually supported by the mudguard itself in terms of fore and aft movement, instead of being attached to the stays directly. That's how tough metal mudguards can be!

Lastly, if anyone is wondering, the holes which are pre-drilled into these are for the stays and bottom bracket on the rear one and for the stays & fork on the front. If you want to brake bridge-mount the rear, put mudflaps on or a reflector you'll have to drill those yourself.

ConsHeavier than Plastic, harder to fit, dents
ProsDurable, Solid, Strong, Rust free, Shinny BLING
I've wanted these for some time as my plastic ones over the years get bent, wobble and eventually fall to bits. These are the business. They are stable, solid and look great. I polish mine daily and the shine always puts a shine on my face.
Yes they are hard to fit, mainly because they are rigid and you have to get it right, but that is just the point to these, once they are right they stay right.
Oh, they do scratch and dent if you abuse them by leaning your bike up against stone walls etc, but scratches can be polished out dents may be a bit harder to rectify so don’t bash’em !

I would recommend these to bring more bling into the cycling world.

ConsR clips may not last the distance
Prosshinny, tough and very classy
After destroying 2 pairs of SKS mudguards over the past 9 years (daily use) I bit the bullet and fitted the Gilles Berthoud. People go on about how hard they are to fit - not true. Just take it slowly. I had no major issues and they look fantastic. On the road they are very stable and quiet. Great coverage in the rain.
My only concern is the supplied R clips. I recommend you replace them with S/S ones.

Should of fitted them years ago.

Constricky fitting
Prosstyle, classic, tough, craftsmanship
According to the brilliant blokes at Sid Standard Cycles in Beeston fitting these mudguards to my Pashley Guv'nor was extremely tricky but they agreed with me that it was worth it. Don't forget to order the matching leather mudflap. I've got the smartest arse in Nottingham.

Hi. I fitted my 700x40 Berthoud metal mudguards yesterday but the bridge on the rear from previous mudguards does not fit on these new ones. What size would you recommend that I get?

Would the 700x40 size work with a 700x38c tire?

Hi there,

This should work absolutely fine, however you will not have much clearance between the tyre and the mudguard.

Thanks.

Hi there,

You should be able to use these without an issue, however we have never done this so we cannot say for certain.

Thanks.
Hi, Will These Mudguards Fit A 271,1/4 Inch Wheel?,
By
26 May 2014
and what does it mean that it is the short version. are the front one 1/4 of the wheel, and the rear 1/2 of the wheel, if not, do you have any model that are?
also, a photo of the mudguards that show their actual shape would be preferable to the second photo, which only shows details already shown in the first photo.
Hi,

These mudguards should provide sufficient coverage for a 27
