Mountain bikes are awesome. I even think that they're awesome when used as commuters or touring bikes. One problem: manufacturer's include suspension-corrected forks so the frames are compatible with standard travel suspension forks. This is all well and good until a person wants to mount fenders. The front fender sits way up off the tyre, rendering it nearly useless. The Fender Flute won't drive the rats out of Hamelin, but it will provide a lower mounting position for the front fender, allowing for better, more effective performance.

- Threaded M6 holes at 10mm intervals for adjustability
- M6 bolts and lock-washers included
- Made in the USA

ConsExpensive
ProsWorks great
Contrary to the another review here, this fender flute does have the holes all the way through. It works flawlessly and appears to be of excellent quality.

ConsDoesn't work without modification
ProsThe colour's ok.
I suppose it would do its job if the M6 holes had been tapped all the way through, but the screws bottom out too soon. It seems an astonishing oversight for a product so simple in design. :(

Does The Thread Run Right Through The Flute?
By

I have a bolt which runs right through the head tube, with a dynamo light mounted at the front and the mudguard bracket at the back. So I need to thread the bolt right through the flute.
SJS Customer Service:
Hi,

All of the holes in the flute are threaded all of the way through.

Thanks.
Would This Fit Inside A 1" Headtube?
By

SJS Customer Service:
Hi,

This fender flute is 21mm across at its widest point. Most 1" forks have an internal diameter of 22.2mm so this fender flute should fit fine to 1" forks. If you are unsure it may be worth measuring the internal diameter of your forks.

Thanks.
