Biking is actually possibe for me now

I recommend this product
ConsBit chunky looking but again it makes it feel sturdy.
ProsHeavy. No complaints about that, they feel sturdy.
Bought these for my BMX, I have been practicing manuals for 2 months straight and have gotten nowhere. I have duck feet which gives me a toe out walking and riding position. Normally my knees flex inwards on bikes but with these my knees can now move forwards and backwards properly.

After putting these on I can actually manual now and can do it pretty well. I practice on a hill and normally only get 1/4 of the way down on rarely, today with these on for the first time I was clearing the entire hill with ease and could actually find my balance point every time.
Do the job, with one reservation.

ConsProne to rust
ProsSolid, well made
They work - understandably as it is a simple part. But they are prone to rust, being blackened steel. Next time I'd go for plated ones if such things exist.

A bit of oil or WD40 will prevent the problem though.

These are the only rust-prone components on my steel bike! The other ferrous parts are plated or powder coated.

ConsA bit heavy, but better that than breaking!
ProsSuperb
In the questions for this item I asked whether there would be a problem with extra lever force spitting the crank at the hole. Now that they have arrived, they are very well made and sturdy, and have a large face area where they meet the crank arm. I'm very confident the extra force applied through the thread is minimal. These are superb!

ConsQuite heavy
ProsSensible price
These pedal extenders move the pedals further away from the crank which can help some cyclists.
The extenders are well made but quite heavy. They will rust if not protected.
Hills are a lot easier.

This is a great product, I can now put pressure on the pedals and not worry that my foot will slip off. I am surprised that the mainstream cycle shops do not keep a small stock of these to accommodate others who do not have the perfect alignment.

ProsSimple and does the job
Bought these to try and relieve knee pain and stop my heels hitting in the chain stays (wide on my bike). Simple to fit and sorts the issue so easily. Higly recommend them.

ConsNone, unless you are worried over a few frames extra weight on your bike
ProsMuch more comfortable foot position on pedal
For some reason these aren't widely known about or sold. But once you go online the number of people with knee/hip issues that have discovered these is amazing.
You can spend much more on fancy titanium ones but frankly these do the job. I have one foot that now points out about 10 degrees after having broken my leg so my foot was always hanging off the edge of the pedal and my heel would knock against the bike frame. Now I've fitted one of these on that side all is good!

ConsNot the lightest component, watch out on tight corners after fitting, could do with a 15mm version
ProsGood value and offer adjustments not available any other way.
After suffering with fibula head pain during and after rides I had tried a number of adjustments to resolve the issue without any success. Finally I discovered these and as I have a significant toe out walking stance decided to give the 20mm version a go.

Easy to fit and with a quality feel, although heavy I went for my first ride. Instantly the comfort was improved and with cleat adjustment to allow a toe out heel in stance on the bike I was able to activate the muscles on the other side of my knee to balance out the load. Using them for a number of rides now the injury is improving and i am confident it will clear up completely.

In short these made cycling fun again.

ProsEasy to fit, Durable
I bought a set of these as I have been getting knee pain when cycling. I'm quite a tall guy and I believe that even on a large bike, my knees bend "in" a little too much, causing me pain after a while
These pedal extenders have alleviated that, now my knees don't bend in any more and cycling is a much more comfotable experience. Thanks SJS!

Consa little heavy maybe, but i guess you cannot avoid that
Prosthey are essential
These pedal extenders absolutely saved my cycling and my knees. For some reason they are not very commonly used and there is a misconception that all yo need to do is adjust properly your cleats when you experience knee pain. Not true. Especially very tall riders just cannot avoid a little longer pedal axles.

ConsHeavier than I expected
ProsStrong and high quality
It worked very well for its purpose. It gives me a wider Q factor that facilitates to position my heel in closer to the crank when pedalling and no more knee pain after 100kms of cycle yesterday. It's like magic. The knee pain that I suffered before after 4hrs in the saddle is gone. I use it with my Speedplay zero pedals and it's perfect. I got the 30mm length to give me enough adjustment for my cleats.

ProsCheap way to try the idea
Got these in 20mm as I was suffering from knee pain actually inside the knee joint not to one side or the other. I had already shortened my cranks to 170mm and that had gone some way to relieving the ache. As soon as I hit the first hill after fitting these I knew I had done the right thing I am able to apply a lot more effort to climbing before any pain and the dreaded aches and pains after cycling do not appear, Just got to get another pair for my Mountain bike.

By

Hi
Thank you for your enquiry. The 20, 25 & 30mm measurements in the listings refer to the actual extension itself & does not include the threaded section.
Kind Regards. JP 25/04/23
Hi can I use these on a spinning bike? I have a JLL IC400 pro, thanks
By
01 Mar 2021
Hi, The manufacturer does not state anywhere what threading they use for the pedals- if they are able to confirm that the cranks are 9/16 threaded then these parts will suit.

Thanks JK 01.03.21
How do i tell Which one is for the left crank and which for the right crank?
By
20 Jan 2021
They only thread on one way, the same as the peddles- so they should be carefully fitted with the thread rotating in the same direction as a peddle stroke- in effect when your cycling they are continually being tightened up.

Thanks 20.01.21
Can i use these with a GT Avalanche Sport mountain bike?

Will Garmin Vector work with these?
By
28 May 2019
Im trying to find information about garmin vector 3 compatibility with spacers. Th only thin i can find is a comment that garmin has not tested thus will not give a recomendation. Do you have any info?
Hi, the pedal will fit to the spacer, they are both 9/16 thread. How being spaced away from the crank arm affects the function and measuring of the Vector 3 we don't know. Thanks 29/05/2019
Would these work with Speedplay Syzr? Thanks
By
19 Feb 2019
Yes! as those pedals have 15mm sanner flats, these would be suitable.

Thanks - 19/02/19
Is three any concern about these snapping the crank arm due to extra lever force?
By
06 Sep 2018
I'm 115kg, so if I fit these there must be some extra lever/twisting type force in the crank threads. Could there be a chance of snapping the crank arm?
Yes, there is so extra leverage, but we have not seen any issues from many companies who produce them,

Thanks

By

Pedel spindle extender fitment with allen key pedals?
By
26 Mar 2018
Is the only issue with allen key pedals the fact that there are no flats to tighten the pedal into the extender could i not just tighten with stilsons on the spindle ?
These will not fit allen key fitting pedals, without using a pedal spanner there is no way of knowing how tight the pedal is onto the adapter and certainly no chance of a torque measurement! It is also highly likely to damage the pedal.

Thanks
Can these be used with shimano XTR pedals where there is only allen-key attachment?
By
23 Mar 2018
Can these be used with shimano XT and XTR pedals where there is only allen-key attachment, so is there a hole through the part?
Hi there,

You would have no way of securing the pedal into the extender without having the 15mm flats, so these would not work with those pedals.

Thanks
Ytek Q pedal extenders 9/16
By
18 Nov 2017
Hi
What are the options : size 20, 25, 30 ?
Size is length of pedal extender ? In mm ? Including thread or not ?
Hi,

The size options are the amount of extension you achieve so they do not include the length of the thread.

Thanks.

Anything Available For 1/2" Thread
By
22 Mar 2017
I have a pair of these for my 9/16" pedal thread bike, work great!
My wife has a 1/2" pedal thread on her bike, is there a version of these for a 1/2" thread?
Hi,

We don't do any 1/2" to 1/2" extenders, but we do offer a 1/2" to 9/16" adaptor set which gives 21mm of extension. These would also allow you to have a wider selection of pedals in the 9/16" size. These adaptors are SJSC part number 38671.

Thanks.
