I needed a replacement bolt for a B 17 saddle the 70 ml in my opinion was the wrong one . A friend had the 64 ml on which fitted easier
On the 70 ml the bit before the threads was too long

The newer bolts were longer which made it impossible to get in.

What can I say that hasn't been said? Worth the cost to save a new saddle. Read all about fitting first and it's a breeze

ConsBit of a struggle to fit
ProsDoes the job
Tension bolt arrived quite quickly. Glad I read comments here about using a spoon to lever it in, which got it almost into place. I then began tightening it, which popped it properly in position. My 40 year old B17 now looks, and feels, ready to do many more years service. Expensive for a bolt but well worth it to regain use of my saddle.

I bought it from SJS had trouble fitting it, looked on the internet and so did everyone else. However I found one guy who basically said. Tie everything together with plastic cable ties, holds it together then use a spoon concave section to head of the pin. and stretch out the loop and nose with the back of the spoon (using it as a lever) , push the pin down the concave part of the spoon with your weight. It will click in most of the way. Then hammer it with a chisel/screwdriver and rubber mallet into the hole. It worked in minutes and was fantastic. I have to share it,
It's just a bolt!

ConsExpensive for what it is
ProsDoes the job, quite difficult to fit.
Tension bolt for Brooks saddles, basically a special bolt with a rounded insert type head to fit the nose piece of a Brooks saddle. If yours breaks (I have had 2 break) you will need one of these, they can be quite tricky to fit, it does not look so but wait till you try!
IMHO expensive for just a bolt but a lot cheaper than buying a new saddle and easier on the bottom than a new (hard0 saddle.

Does this bolt fit a B15 saddle
By
25 Dec 2020
I think the threads on mine are stripped I cannot add tension the nut just turns
Sadly this part will not suit the B15, and we do not have an alternative that will suit either.

How do I fit the Brooks tension pin?
By
05 Jan 2020
I know I've got the right part and I've read its a bit tricky but I don't have a clue how I'm supposed to stretch the saddle to engage the bolt in to the nose piece!
These take a far bit of work to be honest! You may want to head to a local Brooks dealer for assistance.

Does this pin work with the B17 Special?

Hi, the tension pin’s just snapped on my B17 Special- is this the correct pin?
Yes, the special just means copper rails.
