Note: When reversing/replacing the Splined Carrier the Rohloff sprocket tool Art No. 8508 must be used (SJSC Part Number 41415).

Proswill stay on hub now and can change sprockets in minutes

once got old sprocket carrier off (had gates sprocket on, came off separately) using pipe wrench very carefully, screwed on in seconds
circlip very easy to ping off (almost with fingers) and new sprocket just pushes on
major improvement

39t chainwheel and17T screw on sprocket.When this needs replacing ,which splined carrier will be the correct one to get and fit please?

Does the Rohloff splined carrier #8540 screw directly on the the hub or are additional tools required for fitment?

Thank you for your enquiry. There are no special tools required to fit the splined carrier however if you still have the older system you will need the sprocket removal tool to take that off first.

Regarding Rohloff splined carriers

Just to confirm that in order to change a 15T threaded sprocket to a 13T splined sprocket onto a Rohloff Hub, the only compatible splined carrier is #8540.

Which adaptor?

I have a 500- 14 Rohloff with 16teeth. Which adaptor do I order to replace the threaded sprocket? On an Azub Tricon recumbent trike btw.
Replacing with an 19 or 19 tooth splined

Thorn Mercury, old type with 26" wheel. Considering larger sprocket, such as 21, only possible on carrier. 2 types of carrier- ? which type. Also no result from searching on SJS or Rohloff part number for the carrier removal tool- is this the same as the sprocket tool I already have?

The slim carrier will be the best option for you as this matches your current chainline the best. The sprocket tool that you already have will be suitable for fitting of the splined carrier.

Which Splined Sprocket Carrier For Thorn Raven Sport Tour

I've just reversed the old style sprocket on my Rohloff speed hub & found that very hard. So I guess the splined sprockets will make life easier & now might be the time to do it, before the reversed sprocket has really tightened itself up. Which one will I need?

Providing your current sprocket is 15T or larger then you can go for the slim carrier and the appropriately sized sprocket as this will be the closest match to your current set up.
