Shimano TL-FC38 Adapter Removal Tool - YEZY00010

The Shimano TL-FC38 is a specialist tool for certain older Shimano STEPS e-bike motors.

It fits the lockring that holds the front chainring onto the drive unit, allowing you to remove or install the chainring. Shimano specifies it for the DU-E6000, E6001, E6002, E6010, E6012 and E6050 drive units.

It’s an adapter, rather than a complete wrench. You use the TL-FC38 together with a Shimano TL-FC36, TL-FC33 or TL-FC32 tool to turn the lockring.

One important detail: the chainring lockring has a left-hand thread, so its loosening direction is opposite what you might normally expect. Shimano also says not to use an impact wrench with the TL-FC38.
