- SG-X chainrings feature strategically placed chain pick-up pins and tooth profiles to ensure fast and positive shifting
- 2-piece design allows the bottom bracket bearings to be spaced wider apart (outboard the frame) enabling the use of larger bearings and an increased axle diameter
- There is also the benefit of easier installation, adjustment and maintenance
- Compatible with 8-speed Hyperglide (HG) chains

A shimano Claris 8 speed set up

I have a specialised frame with a shimano 8 speed set up throughout. I need to replace the existing double chainring due to wear. I was wondering if I could directly replace with a triple and if the left hand shifter would handle the change
Only if you have x3 shifters, otherwise this will not work.

I want to buy claris 8 spd fc-r2030 for use with a 9 spd cassette. Chain would be cn-hg53. Can I use this combination? If not.... can you suggest a suitable triple plus shifter which goes to a 30t ring?
Hi, is chainset is only designed to work with 8 speed Shimano chains, as such your proposed combination is not guaranteed to work as its outside the manufacturers intended application for this chainset.
