Spacers between FC-T8000 chainrings
By
06 May 2021
I bought a Spec. Crave MTB 18 months ago, it came with a Shimano Deore XT FC-T8000 3 ring chainset, 48-36-26.
I bought a replacement 36T ring Shimano exact match, the chain would not "sit" on the teeth, so I replaced the worn SRAM 10 speed chain with a proper Shimano XT 10s chain, the inner ring was snagging so I bought a new 26T from SJS. I have found it necessary to add spacers between the chainrings, and think I will have a working chainset when I get the extended length chainring bolts from SJS.
My question is, does the triple originally come without spacers? How can it be that I had a working triple previously without spacers, (although there was friction noise), and now I need 2.5 to 3mm spacers between each ring? Is there a known issue here?
Hi there,

This set up does not require any spacing, there are no known issues.

It seems you have used genuine rings, and a 10 speed chain so on paper we cannot foresee any issues. Might be worth heading to a local bike shop just to get a second point of view!

Can I use this with XT FC-M771-K 10speed?

Hi there,
I have the XT FC-M771-K 10 speed (48-36-26T)...
I need the inner chainring 26T, this is published to be used with 9speed... ¿is it compatible?, if yes... ¿do you make international shipping (Chile)?
thanks!
Yes, this will be fine for 9 or 10 speed.
We ship worldwide.
