Hi,
unfortunately this will not fit a Brompton chainset as one of the fixing bolts on a Brompton chainset fits to the underside of the crank arm leaving no room to fit a chainguard to the bolts. this means that Brompton's own chainguard is the only one that will fit.

The original chain guard on an Apollo Abyss 48tooth ring looked like a clear plastic version of this product, will it fit the bike?

No I'm afraid this won't fit your bike as its smaller than your outer chainring. Also this fits with a 5 bolt system that is designed to work with a single ring and not a triple chainset.
